"Brighter than a star"

I want to thank "Anonymous" on Tumblr who requested a Christmas Bethyl piece.

"Brighter than a star" features Daryl decorating Beth with fairy lights on Christmas Eve, snow falling all around them, while she stares serenely at the snow globe in her hands. I wanted to add a little special moment from the Walking Dead, so if you look closely at the globe, you will see it's the run-down shack from episode "Still" engulfed in flames. Because that moment is where they really connected in the story line, and holds a special place in their hearts.

Before Digital touch up, I used a mix of watercolors, watercolor pencils, gouache and pencil.

Here's a close up of the shack inside the globe.

Sketchbook Corner # 19 ~ Bethyl request

A quick sketch of a Christmas Bethyl request.

(a bit early in the year, but what the heck)

The idea suddenly struck when I thought about all the glowing lights I could incorporate into this piece. It will be a very tender moment, with warm and soft colors and lots of snow!

"The warmth of your hand"

O__O so. damn. sleepy....
But very happy!

Finally finished this Bethyl request!

Recognize the pattern on the blanket? No?! Shame on you.
For all you loyal Walking Dead fans, of course you'll recognize Daryl's poncho design on the sheet. I just couldn't leave that out.

Once again, I want to thank fellow Twitter fan, @magraphx,  for the special request. I hope to get more like those soon.

Now, off to bed!

WIP ~ after midnight!

Can't wait to be a full time artist one day.
Working full time during the day, then trudging home at night to work on my art feels like I have two jobs.

Except, I'd do overtime for the second one in a heartbeat.

Anywho, almost done with the color scheme for this piece. After some more line work, I'll do the digital touch up with my trusted Corel Painter Lite!

WIP ~ a Bethyl request!

Another Bethyl WIP!

This from a special request from fellow twitter fan @magraphx, who wanted a rendering of Beth and Daryl holding hands in front of the graveyard in episode "Alone" -

Being that "holding hands" was the focus, I decided to interpret it in my own way.

Look forward to the final piece!

In episode "Still" of the Walking Dead, when Daryl lashes out at Beth during their drinking game, the first thing he yells is, "I've never had a frozen yogurt!"

Of course, we all know this has a much deeper meaning to him than just dessert. It meant he never had a normal life, with a family that cared for him. He was always fending for himself and learning to survive, whether it be out in the woods or the unwanted attention of his abusive father.

In this piece, I wanted Daryl to experience some of that normalcy. After the burning-down-the-house scene, they come across an abandoned summer camp. Beth and Daryl find a stash of food, some fishing nets, and the primary ingredients to create S'mores!

They find a sturdy tree-house nearby, a lake full of fish and Beth teaches Daryl how to make this traditional night time campfire treat as part of their dinner.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!

WIP ~ midnight painting session.

Happy to say, I'll be wrapping this piece up soon.
I have other Bethyl ideas listed on the drawing board, but I'll have to wait on those a bit to work on other projects I've had on hiatus for a couple of weeks.

Not to worry, there will be plenty of upcoming Walking Dead fan art rolling your way again.

A WIP of a Bethyl request from fellow Twitter fan, who wanted a "Dinner" theme for our favorite pair.
Final piece coming real soon!

Uh, unexpectedly became an aunt today...

Yep, the nephew was born today- guess we didn't get the memo about his two month early release date.

Healthy, but still in an incubator until he gets bigger than my smallest cat  -__- . . .

Well, welcome to the world, baby.
Hope you like it here.

"Oh." - such a small, yet meaningful moment of clarity in the kitchen scene of the Walking Dead's episode "Alone."

Beth asks Daryl what changed his mind about good people still remaining in this world, and though at first he seems reluctant to give a definitive answer, Beth is relentless. When she asks him again, "What changed your mind?" Daryl pauses, seems even uncertain at first, then his gaze focuses on her.

And there is silence.

So much is being conveyed with his expression and non-answer alone, words seem almost intrusive. It's only when the moment seems to weigh heavily in the air, do we see Beth realize...something.

Because what else could she say?
